Mike’s Wrecker Service has proudly served Mid-Michigan since 1956. What began as a small family-owned service station has grown into one of the region’s most established towing and recovery companies, operating multiple locations with more than 30 trucks and approximately 50 employees.
While we’ve grown over the decades, our commitment to honest, respectful, and dependable service has never changed.
Today, we provide 24/7 towing, roadside assistance, heavy recovery, equipment transport, and specialized recovery services throughout Saginaw, Bay, and Midland counties. Whether it’s a simple jump start or a complex commercial recovery, our experienced team has the equipment, training, and expertise to get the job done safely.
Started by a Korean War Veteran
Mike Giorgis opened Mike’s Cities Service in 1956 after returning home from the Korean War. A few years later, he needed a way to bring disabled cars back to the shop, so he built a wrecker from a Dodge Military Power Wagon.
The family nicknamed it The Turtle, and that homemade truck became the foundation of what would eventually become Mike’s Wrecker Service.
Mike’s wife, Mary, helped run dispatch from the family home, and generations of the Giorgis family have worked together to build the business into what it is today. That family-first approach continues to shape how we serve our customers, support our employees, and operate our company every day.

Over the years, Mike’s Wrecker Service has grown alongside the communities we serve. What started as a way to serve local drivers has become one of Mid-Michigan’s most trusted names in towing and recovery. As the needs of Mid-Michigan have evolved, we’ve continued investing in our equipment, technology, and people so we’re prepared to respond whenever our customers need us.

Great service starts with great people. That’s why continuing education and professional development remain an important part of our company culture. Our operators regularly complete advanced training so they can safely assist customers while staying current with the latest equipment and industry best practices.
We have WreckMaster-certified team members, and every rotator operator attends Miller Rotator School. Our crews also learn how to work with electric and hybrid vehicles as those systems continue to change. Every team member also completes background checks, drug testing, annual physicals, and yearly driving record reviews, helping us maintain the high standards we’ve upheld since 1956.

Company President Bill Giorgis has served as President of both the Towing & Recovery Association of America (TRAA) and the Michigan Towing Association, reflecting our long-standing commitment to advancing professionalism, safety, and continuing education throughout the towing and recovery industry.
His leadership keeps our team connected to evolving best practices, training, safety standards, and new technology, benefiting every customer we serve.

For decades, local police departments, sheriff’s offices, and the Michigan State Police have trusted Mike’s Wrecker Service for professional towing and recovery assistance. We also support fire departments by providing vehicles for rescue training and helping create realistic scenarios for water extrication exercises.
Our team has worked alongside dive teams, emergency responders, and specialized law enforcement units to support training that helps prepare first responders for real-world emergencies. Giving Back to the Communities We Serve
Supporting Mid-Michigan goes beyond towing and recovery. We’re proud to give back to the communities that have supported our family over the years.
Mike’s Wrecker Service helps support the City of Saginaw Fourth of July celebration, including raising a 50-by-80-foot American flag over one of the city’s bridges. We also participate in community events like Rock the Island and Touch a Truck, while supporting organizations such as The Mustard Seed and the East Side Soup Kitchen through transportation, storage, and other assistance. Women served by The Mustard Seed also receive complimentary towing and roadside assistance when needed.
